Scan4Stories is a TETRA project funded by VLAIO in which Howest's Tourism and Recreation Management and Digital Arts & Entertainment programs work together. In this way, the knowledge related to the development of experiential, touristic products for visitors and games and interactive applications is combined.
Digital Arts & Entertainment
The Digital Arts and Entertainment program trains students to become technical artists and programmers for the international game and VFX market. The program has its own research department — DAE Research — which applies and valorizes state-of-the-art developments of the entertainment industry in entertainment and non-entertainment contexts in collaboration with the professional field. In doing so, Howest creates an environment where education, research and entrepreneurship meet.
Tourism and Recreation Management
The Tourism and Recreation Management Program trains students to become the holiday makers of the future! Tourism and Recreation Management students are passionate world citizens and eager explorers who are able to develop, sell and guide innovative travel and leisure experiences.
The program recently started an applied research department to guarantee a well-balanced interaction with the professional field. In line with the trends in tourism, the program chose “digital innovation and storytelling” as the main research topic under the broader heading of "Quality, innovation and sustainability". In doing so, the program and research department strive to develop interdisciplinary research projects.
